Ormat Technologies, Inc. Manager, Regulatory Affairs in Reno, Nevada

Headquartered in Reno, Nevada, Ormat is a leading geothermal company and the only vertically integrated company solely engaged in geothermal and recovered energy generation (REG), with the objective of becoming a leading global provider of renewable energy.

Ormat continues to develop our existing renewable energy portfolio with new geothermal, solar, and storage projects under exploration to support future growth. We have substantial land positions across 350,000 acres in the Americas. The Manager of Regulatory Affairs will oversee the development and implementation of the Company’s regulatory affairs strategy at the federal, state, and local levels. This position will report to the Director of Development.


  • Develop and implement regulatory strategies for development projects supporting the Company’s growth before federal, state, and local regulators and regulatory bodies

  • Manage the Department’s participation in various regulatory proceedings and stakeholder processes

  • Monitor changes in regulation, policy, and staffing and advise Director to inform business strategy and planning

  • Monitor and track applications to agencies and milestone schedules; regularly update federal, state, and local representatives of adherence to schedule

  • Represent the Company's position in hearings and workshops; assist the project with public relations strategies

  • Attend workshops, conferences, tradeshows, meetings that pertain to wildlife, land management, and environmental protection

  • Manage the Company’s community outreach efforts supporting development projects

  • Travel up to 30% with the ability to travel for long distances by car and air

  • Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner


  • Other duties and projects as assigned by management


  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Business, or comparable degree; advanced degree preferred

  • 10 years’ experience in regulatory affairs and/or public policy

  • Demonstrated problem solving, negotiating, and oral and written communication skills

  • Experience with projects on public lands in Western U.S. and developing political strategies to resolve project siting conflicts

  • Ability to set strategic priorities and execute business expansion strategies

  • Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation. Must be proficient in MS word, Excel, Power Point, and use of the internet.


  • Must be able to work in an office environment

  • This position requires sitting 80% of the time and standing and walking 20% of the time

  • Must have the ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds without assistance
