Legrand NA Assembly Technician I/II in Reno, Nevada

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Assembly Technician to join the Data Power and Control Team in Reno, Nevada. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to assemble products or component of a product. This position will perform basic and routine tasks in the assembly process and rotate through all or most of the tasks as assigned. This position will ensure that all assigned duties are performed quickly, efficiently and according to the established departmental and company policies, procedures and goals.

The Assembly Technician I/II, as with all members of the Server Technology Team, is expected to promote a positive attitude, demonstrate initiative, professionalism, personal awareness, integrity, and exercise confidentiality.

What Will You Do?

  • Assembly Technician I:

  • Independently perform routine tasks in Cord Prep, Wire Prep, Packaging, and Production Station 1.

  • Follow procedures to produce consistent, quality products in an expedient manner.

  • Ability to log in and out of jobs in Vantage.

  • Ability to pull up build instructions in Vantage.

  • Perform simple, repetitive bench assembly.

  • Perform proper crimping and cabling techniques.

  • Be organized and keep work area clean.

  • Perform work in a safe manner. Report repairs or safety concerns to management.

  • Maintain compliance with all ISO regulations and procedures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Assembly Technician II:

  • Independently perform routine duties of the Assembly Technician I position.

  • Access drawings in Omnify and follow work instructions to complete assignments.

  • Perform simple soldering.

  • Knowledge of basic product model numbers and visual identification.

  • Ability to identify commonly built assemblies and subcomponents by part number.

  • Ability to identify non-conforming parts or assemblies.

  • Ability to read and understand basic wiring diagrams and layout drawings.

  • Ability to read and understand Bills of Materials.

  • Perform daily/weekly inspections and calibrations on Hi-Pot and workbenches.

  • Perform Hi-Pot Test.

  • Perform hardware quality control functions for assembly lines which will include verifying that products are built to specification, verifying hardware integrity, and Hi-Pot verification and label.

  • Perform work in a safe manner. Report repairs or safety concerns to management.

  • Maintain compliance with all ISO regulations and procedures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

EDUCATION:

  • Assembly Technician I

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). College level Electronics Technician coursework, preferred.

  • Assembly Technician II

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • College level Electronics Technician coursework, preferred.

  • Associates Degree in Industrial Electronics or related field preferred; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 6 months assembly experience, preferred. Minimum of 1 year electro/mechanical assembly experience preferred for Assembly Technician II.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

  • Assembly Technician I

  • Basic ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Basic ability to solder wires for cables, small wires, and surface mount components.

  • Experience with assembly of miniature mechanical components, preferred.Assembly Technician II

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to solder wires for cables, small wires, and surface mount components.

  • Experience with assembly of miniature mechanical components.

  • Assembly Technician I and II

  • Experience with computer assembly and hardware/software troubleshooting, preferred.

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups in the Company.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Computer proficiency with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook), preferred.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
