JOB SUMMARY:

Location: Las Vegas, NV

The Operations Manager will have responsibility for managing and coordinating the day-to-day operational performance of one or more field functions/ projects for the Southern California market. Experience with a municipal code compliance and construction management/ oversight is essential in order to achieve growth and performance goals through service optimization and delivery.

Position responsibilities include the following; others may be assigned :

  • Oversee and/ or conduct a range of trade-specific plan reviews and inspections on residential and commercial buildings as well as managing specific projects assigned to the business unit.

  • Manage an assigned team of inspectors, plans examiners, and office personnel. Leadership responsibilities will include recruiting and deployment, training, and coaching to meet performance standards.

  • Take leadership role in improving the knowledge and understanding of field personnel in best business and operational practices, leading to enhanced financial performance. Monitor KPI's and recommend improvement initiatives to management.

  • Monitor A/R's for assigned clients and take actions to reduce late pays and increase cash flow. Implement and administer BV corporate financial policies, procedures and initiatives.

  • Manages and delivers consistent proposal development, and contract implementation in collaboration with Regional Manager, Director of Operations, Vice President and Marketing team.

  • Monitors reporting on new projects wins (working with Regional Manager, Director of Operations, Vice President and Marketing Manager) and backlog on a monthly basis.

  • Supports consistent proposal costing and contract implementation.

Essential Skills and Abilities

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Extensive experience working with municipal government, with a focus in Building Construction Departments, Engineering, or Public Works development.

  • Ability to explain and interpret code and related regulatory requirements

  • Business acumen, strong analytical and strategic mindset.

  • Effective mediator of conflicts between peers, direct reports, and clients.

  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively motivate and influence others.

  • Proven skills for teamwork and collaboration.

Education/ Experience:

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Science, with 3+ years experience managing an engineering or code compliance department or operation; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Demonstrated success leading and managing multiple personnel in one or more operational and/ or engineering function (plan review, field inspection, engineering project oversight, project management, etc.).

Work Environment:

An employee in this position typically works in an office environment with heating and air conditioning, but will regularly travel to customer and/ or vendor work sites which will require exposure to external environments.

Physical Demands:

The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 20 pounds. The vision requirements include: ability to adjust focus, distance vision and close vision. Travel will be required to client sites (indoor/ outdoor construction) up to 50%.
