The Position

Fleet Specialists perform a broad variety of activities unique to agencies with large scale managed fleet operations.

Positions in this series facilitate specialized support functions related to department/division fleet operations

including vehicle and equipment acquisition, utilization, maintenance, and disposal of light, medium and heavy

duty vehicles, equipment and related accessories (e.g. trucks, cars, radios, lights, trailers, tool boxes).

This position works in the Director's Office, Fiscal Services Section and will coordinate and manage the Department's assets of approximately 370 vehicles, vessels, specialized equipment, ATVs/UTVs, buildings and contents, and other valuable property. The management will include the development of a database (i.e. automated fleet and asset information system) as well as working with lease agreements, purchase orders, maintenance specifications, and analyzing data for life cycle and equipment needs for the Department. The position will administer the Department's Property Management Program to ensure compliance with federal and state policies, create efficiencies with usage, and develop processes that achieve a fiscally conservative property program. The position will work to forecast Department costs to ensure they are properly budgeted. The position will also be responsible for the fleet card program which will include developing a program that defines appropriate usage, eliminates waste and fraud, has auditable records, and ensures compliance with all federal and state laws. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, public administration or a closely related field and one year of paraprofessional experience assisting in fleet management to include acquisition and disposal, utilization, maintenance and repair, and inventory; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of paraprofessional experience equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III performing duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Special Requirements

Some positions require a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
