Location: Anthem Office

Responsible for the design and execution of the organization design and effectiveness programs/initiatives across the entire organization.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee and lead organizational effectiveness resources and activities. Develop, mentor, and coach team.

  • Lead and/or participate in cross-functional teams to: diagnose organization effectiveness issues, collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data as part of that analysis, generate human capital recommendations to address performance gaps and build required capability, and craft high impact implementation plans.

  • Assist organization in designing effective matrix structures to support enterprise goals and priorities.

  • Drive adoption of agile organizational models to drive enhanced organizational flexibility.

  • Partner with senior leadership to activate an organizational strategy, including structure and process, to align with the newly defined organizational designs.

  • Aligns change management and communication activities to facilitate understanding and adoption of new structures, roles and processes.

  • Collaborate with HR and business leaders to integrate our values and leadership model into our processes and policies.

  • Consults with HR and management regarding the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of organization effectiveness programs.

  • Provide end to end business partner management, including consultation, diagnostics, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Builds foundational org design/org effectiveness and change management practices and ensures consistency across HR.

  • Understands business strategy of business units and help them align and execute on future organization models.

  • Supporting org design efforts M&A by aligning target structures with Anthem as part of integration.


  • 10+ years experience – Strategic and operational

  • Experience influencing teams and executing projects in a large, matrix organization

  • Experience creating and implementing OD/OE strategies

  • Healthcare experience preferred

  • People leadership experience preferred

  • M&A experience preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a preferred concentration (major) in Organization Development, I/O Psychology or Human Resources

  • Graduate degree (MS/MA, MBA) Preferred

  • Professional HR / OD Certification Preferred
