Intelligent Waves LLC Instrumentation Engineer in Las Vegas, Nevada

Intelligent Waves, a rapidly growing Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business Fed/DoD Contractor, has an immediate opportunity for an Instrumentation Engineer to work directly with Government client on a brand new, long-term program supporting a DoD client at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, NV.

The primary purpose of this position is to perform as the supervisor of a team of matrixed instrumentation engineers and senior technicians who design, validate and support instrumentation systems used for data acquisition and telemetry in aerospace weapon system test and evaluation programs. Additionally, the incumbent has primary technical review responsibility over temporary (T-2) modifications and provides expert guidance in the design, installation, validation, and support of airborne instrumentation systems for aerospace weapons systems.

  • Supervises assigned government instrumentation engineers and technicians to accomplish instrumentation system implementation objectives and required program support.

  • Determines training requirements to meet operational or personnel career objectives and initiates training through the functional or project organization.

  • Performs duties required to accomplish administration of assigned personnel and contractors, to administer time and attendance accounting. to establish and maintain safe work procedures. and to protect sensitive information and government owned equipment.

  • Plans the work to be accomplished and then makes assignments to staff based on priorities and in the consideration for the nature and difficulty of work and capabilities of the assigned staff.

  • Resolves unique and controversial problems related to instrumentation system implementation costs, schedules, design and performance.

  • Reviews and evaluates instrumentation system, subsystem, and component performance specifications and standards for adequacy and accuracy.

  • Remains current with state-of-the-art developments in data acquisition systems and telemetry.

  • Reviews advanced planning documents and establishes instrumentation system implementation goals and objectives to satisfy customer T-2 modification and other instrumentation system requirements.

  • Prepares instrumentation system implementation documentation, including required T-2 modification data not accomplished by support organizations, and assures that modifications are accomplished in accordance with applicable configuration control directives.

  • Initiates Task Directives, as appropriate, for contractors engineering services to support tasks and programs which are beyond the government staff capabilities or capacities.

  • Initiates request for instrumentation systems designs or new developments to satisfy program requirements.

  • Conducts instrumentation operations by coordinating activities of functional and support organizations to accomplish the design and development of both standard and unique aerospace weapon system instrumentation systems. Operations activities include the planning, monitoring, acceptance, operation, provisioning, and maintenance of the instrumentation systems.

  • Estimates required resources and prepares or consolidates Instrumentation Division program resource and cost estimates on a program-by-program basis.

  • Performs as a senior instrumentation specialist and interfaces directly with other Air Force agencies, contractors, project managers and engineers at technical planning meetings and conferences. Advises test and evaluation program engineers and data analysts of current instrumentation technical and operational capabilities and limitations. Presentations made may result in substantial commitments and sizable expenditures of manpower, funds, and material.

  • Professional knowledge of electronics, mechanical, or aerospace engineering principles and practices.

  • Active DOD Secret Clearance and ability to obtain TS/SCI.

  • Knowledge of all aspects of flight test data acquisition, processing and analysis, including knowledge of methods and equipment (types of transducers, signal conditioning) used to measure physical phenomena and digital data buses on aircraft.

  • Knowledge of design, integration, validation, and operational support of airborne instrumentations systems.

  • Knowledge of planning, coordinating, cost estimating, preparing equipment specifications and tracking of schedule for airborne data systems.

  • Skills in oral and written communication.

  • Ability to supervise a diverse team of engineers and technicians to accomplish technical goals and objectives.

  • Ability to explain technical options as they apply to performance of data acquisition and telemetry systems.
