Amentum Engineer - RF Engineering & Communications Systems in Las Vegas, Nevada

JT4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and air crews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

Serves as a Principal Investigator and individual contributor to contract research, development, integration, and sustainment projects.

  1. Develops and applies advanced methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and difficult system design requirements and problems.

  2. Conducts investigations of considerable complexity.

  3. Provides technical consultation to other organizations or customers.

  4. Directs interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.

  5. Plans, conducts, and technically directs projects or major phases of significant projects requiring the expert application of advanced knowledge.

  6. Reviews completion and implementation of systems additions and/or enhancements and recommends corrections in technical application and analysis to management.

  7. Represents the Company as technical advisor in high-level meetings and briefings with Company and customer personnel.

  8. Prepares, delivers, and submits technical papers and performs engineering studies.

  9. Supports development of technical proposals and provides comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.

  10. Acts and is recognized as a Company/industry expert resource on the most complex engineering problems.

  11. Maintains technical project responsibility for assigned tasks and advises management of progress in support of the technical and administrative direction of project operations.

  12. Conducts site visits and experimental investigations and analyzes engineering problems, proposes solutions and alternatives, and provides recommendations.

  13. Develops, interprets, and implements technical and administrative operating policies and procedures.

  14. Performs other position-related duties and assignments as directed.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The incumbent will possess a technical understanding of:

  1. RF Engineering and Communications Systems

  2. TDMA, CDMA, and OFDMA

  3. RF propagation modeling

  4. Digital modulation techniques and phase shift keying

Candidates with fewer years of experience may be considered.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. Routine travel to remote Company work locations may be required.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Level II: The incumbent must have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution with 2 years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited Master of Science in Engineering.

Level III: The incumbent must have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 4 years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited Master of Science in Engineering with at least 2 years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited doctoral degree in Engineering.

Level IV: The incumbent must have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 8 years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited Master of Science in Engineering with at least 6 years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited doctoral degree in Engineering with at least 4 years of related engineering experience.

Level V: The incumbent must have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 14 years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited Master of Science in Engineering with at least 10 years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited doctoral degree in Engineering with at least 8 years of related engineering experience.

The incumbent must possess a well-established, substantial, professional reputation in one or more of the principal technical disciplines of the Company. Must demonstrate the ability to direct senior technical personnel in project assignments involving research, development, integration, and sustainment of complex systems or processes. The incumbent must use superior communications skills, both verbal and written, in day-to-day project activities as well as in briefing customers and in writing reports and proposals. The incumbent must possess planning/organizing skills and have a working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools. Incumbent will be required to qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and must have a valid, current state driver's license.
