Deloitte Services LLP is recruiting for a Consumer Market Research Manager at the Deloitte Center for Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT Center). Using original research and deep industry expertise, the TMT Center develops insights that reveal emerging trends so executives can anticipate change rather than reacting to it.
The TMT Center is a premier source for insights on the most important issues facing TMT executives in both the US and globally. The TMT Center develops and publishes 50 papers per year, based on primary research that includes surveys and interviews. With supporting slide decks, podcasts, videos, and webinars, TMT Center researchers present their findings to executives at the world s most valuable and recognizable companies. Our insights are often also featured in top-tier news, business, and industry press. In this role, you ll have the chance to shape the market by rigorously identifying and promoting the next big trends.
Work you ll do
The Consumer Market Research Manager will lead the TMT Center s consumer studies, from survey development and data-driven analysis, to writing, editing, and production of supporting assets. In this role you will have the opportunity to lead the market s thinking on topics everyone wants to know about: streaming media, video games, smartphones and tech devices, 5G, and more. If you re passionate about understanding and explaining how consumer behavior is driving trends in technology, media, and telecommunications, this is an exciting opportunity.
The role requires deep expertise and a demonstrable track record of high performance in the following areas:
Project Management: The role requires expert project management skills, as you will be working independently, often on multiple schedules and projects at once, aligned with numerous internal stakeholders.
Survey Development: Taking ideas from senior Deloitte TMT leaders and translating them into hypotheses that can be tested via consumer surveys. Writing survey questions that follow best practices in question design, scales and responses, and that consumers can easily understand and answer. Working directly with survey vendors to manage schedules and deliverables. Showing senior executives how answers to survey questions will produce unique insights our clients and the press will want to know.
Statistical Analysis: Analyzing survey results using statistical software, including SPSS, MarketSight, and Tableau. Strong statistical analysis skills and experience leading teams are required for this role. You will have 1-2 dotted-line reports who will assist you with survey coding and analysis.
Storytelling with Data: Developing world-class insights requires using data to tell a strong and accurate story that clearly shows the market implications that are most critical to Deloitte and our clients. This includes developing PowerPoint presentations, data visualizations, infographics, and whitepapers to tell stories in multiple ways for different audiences.
Writing and research: Excellent writing skills, from ideation to publication, with a track record of strong productivity. You will write in-depth and short-form research reports, case studies, and articles that integrate survey data, interviews, and information from a wide range of secondary sources, third-party research and databases, presentations, industry commentaries, and news articles. A writing exercise and examples of recent reports that you were primarily responsible for producing will both be part of the evaluation process.
Executive Communications Skills: Strong presentation skills, experience conducting interviews, and the ability to appear on webinars and podcasts. You will work directly with senior TMT leaders and clients, presenting and conducting interviews.
Promoting your work: The Research Manager will work with client service professionals to help amplify the ideas of this research in the marketplace via client presentations, speaking engagements, social media and other efforts.
May require travel to attend client meetings, conferences, and/or training sessions. Note that during the pandemic, Deloitte has restrictions on travel and on-site work.
